Wind Park Hipples
Seven Vestas V47 stand in the area of the four communities Niederleis, Ladendorf, Großrußbach and Kreuzstetten. The rotor’s diameter of each turbine is 47 m, harvesting wind on an area of 1,735 m². At a wind speed of only 3.5 m/s (12.6 km/h), the turbines start producing electricity and at only 16 m/s (57 km/h) the nominal output of 660 kW is achieved.
In the immediate vicinity of each wind turbine, there is a compact transformer station. To avoid any circuit loss, here, the voltage of 690 volts is transformed to 20,000 volts. The energy produced is conducted via underground cables to the network transmission station, two kilometers away, located near the village of Pürstendorf. Since June 2000, Windpark Hipples has supplied an annual energy production of 9,200,000 kWh into the public power network. The erection costs amounted to €4.54 million.
