Wind Park Steinberg-Prinzendorf
The third wind park by Windkraft Simonsfeld GmbH in Weinviertel consists of Windpark Prinzendorf I with 9 Vestas V80 turbines and Windpark Prinzendorf II with six Vestas V90 windmills. Prinzendorf I produced 42,000,000 kWh of wind electricity until the end of 2008 per year. The additional 6 wind turbines in Windpark Prinzendorf II in December 2008 raised the forecast total production to 76,800,000 kWh. This corresponds to the average annual need of about 21,950 households.
A transformer station on Steinberg hill ensures the feeding into the public 110 kV power network. When put into service in 2003, Windpark Steinberg-Prinzendorf was the largest wind park in Lower Austria. The total cost of its erection amounted to €19.6 million.
